A novel series of Chalcones (2a-j) were prepared by reacting Furfuraldehyde and substituted ketones in alcohol medium in presence of NaOH. The Chalcones undergoes selective cyclization with Benzhydrazide (1) in glacial acetic acid medium to yield the title compounds 1,3,5-trisubstituted Pyrazolines (3a-j). All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their In-Vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities. The new compounds were assigned on the basis of 1H-NMR, IR, Mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Some of the tested compounds showed potent activity against antifungal organism A.fumigatus.Keywords

Though the designs of FMC strive to ensure the maximum flexibility in the system, in practice, after the implementation of such systems the operational executives often find it hard to accommodate frequent variations in the part designs of incoming jobs. The difficulty can vary well be overcome by scheduling the variety of incoming problem into the system efficiently. The scheduling of FMS with the aid of Genetic Algorithm and draft of code strings, which are used by this algorithm have been presented in this paper. Moreover, some results obtained by computer program based on this method also have been presented. In first case it has been assumed that the cell works in optimal mode. Every operation can be done on every machine and in the second case cell assorts in sequential mode. The first operation is executed on the first machine, the second operation on the second machine and so on. The only criterion of scheduling evaluation is the time of cell work. The time must be the shortest for definite number of jobs and machines.- Optimal Location of Capacitors For Voltage Control In Radial Distribution Network By Using PSO Algorithm

This paper proposes a Particle Swarm Optimization method for optimal placement of capacitors in radial distribution system. Because of simple design and low cost radial distribution systems are more popular. But in distribution system, when buses moved away from the substation, the voltage drop increases and losses are also high. Lack of reactive power is the reason for voltage drops and high losses. It is necessary to solve this voltage problem for supply of good quality of power. In this paper series capacitors are used as reactive power compensators. By optimal location and sizing of capacitors voltage can be maintained in permissible limits and also losses can be reduced. In this work, a case study of 6-bus system is considered and comparison of PSO method is made with conventional calculations. Keywords

An important part of many quality improvement and quality development programs is an evaluation of the effect of process variables upon performance. The product quality is depending on number of independent factors. Their effects on dependent factors are evaluated through empirical investigation. In practice, a small number of controllable variables contribute to a vital share of the effect of the product quality. These variables do not necessarily produce a constant effect on the product. The question would therefore arise as to how efficiently and economically the contribution of each of these factors can be assessed individually and also collectively to produce the total effect on the product performance. An approach that fulfills these requirements is available in the statistically designed experiments. The statistically designed experiment permits simultaneous consideration of all the possible factors that are suspected to have a bearing on the problem under consideration. Even a limited number of experiments would enable experimenter to uncover the vital factors on which further trails would lead the researcher to track down their most desirable combination which will yield the expected results. Scanning a large number of variables is one of the objectives that a statistically designed experiment would fulfill in many problem situations. The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model to predict the task time taken by the operator to assemble the needle and thread by varying the working environmental conditions like temperature, light and noise. The adequacies of the model are then evaluated using MINITAB statistical software and analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. The model developed is checked for its adequacy. Results of confirmation experiments showed that the model can predict the optimum task time with reasonable accuracy. Keywords

The present study was evaluated for the Antiepileptic activity of methanolic and aqeous extracts of leaves Annona reticulata on the seizures induced by chemical and electroconvulsive method i.e PTZ and MES methods. In this study, the antiepileptic study of methanolic and aqeous extract of Annona reticulata at doses of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg using the PTZ and MES models were investigated in Swiss Albino Rats. The %protection of the rats was found to increase with an increase in the dose. It was found that at the dose of 400mg/kg, both the extract of the leaves showed very good activity and most animals showed no signs of convulsions. The obtained data from the study suggested the reduction in the duration and delay in the latency of the seizures. Keywords

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder which results from defects in insulin secretion. Among the various methods of diabetes management, herbal products are best alternative drug with zero side-effects. The aim of this work was to assess the phytochemicals qualitatively and to evaluate the anti-diabetic activity of unripe fruits extract of Artocarpus gomezianus. The in vitro alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase inhibitory studies were performed using different concentration of extract and compared with a standard drug. Our assay result suggests that methanolic extract of Artocarpus gomezianus exhibit dose-dependent increase in percentage inhibitory activity on α-glucosidase enzymes (IC50 is 70.29) and α-amylase (IC50 is 68.75). Acarbose was used as a standard drug. Keywords
